Camping Clubs across the RV World!

history7

RV camping clubs date back to the Tin Can Tourists of the 1920s and 1930s. The Tin Can Tourists were RVers who braved dust and mud to drive their Tin Lizzies across the U.S. before transcontinental roads were paved. They camped by the side of the road, heated tin cans of food on gasoline stoves, and bathed in cold water.

On this web site you can contact people from all corners of the world who love RVing, boondocking, and traveling on a budget.

In North America in particular, many of us seek out Walmart stores, truck stops, and casinos for free overnight parking on route to our destinations. While we will likely continue to use these businesses, what would it be like to be welcomed by thousands of fellow RVers to spend the night parked on their private property instead?

Enjoy RVing and save on campground fees by joining a Discount Camping Club.

Let’s talk about membership campground systems.

The first thing we should do is understand the basic differences between a discount camping club and a membership club. A discount camping club consists of a large number of campgrounds owned by different people and companies, who agree to give RVing members a discount, usually 50% off of their regular rates. Membership in a discount camping club is much less expensive than it is for a membership club, no home park is required, and there is usually no long term membership obligation. You just pay your annual dues and use the participating campgrounds. You sign-up or join by the year and start using the privileges without further adieu.

The advantage of joining a discount camping club is the simplicity of it’s rules. You don’t have to pay thousands of dollars for a home park in order to take advantage of discounts at member parks. An annual fee allows you to participate in discount campground fees. Join a club, use it and save. The camping fee is usually %50 off. The downside is the discount is usually for a few nights and not long term. I have been to campgrounds that do not restrict the number of night you can stay.

If you are interested in Camping Memberships to save you money on daily camping you may also be interested in buying a membership in a campground. There are advantages here too, because the membership comes with a reciprocal program that is associated with other campground across the nation. Camping can be as low as $10 per night. For more information go to Memberships page.

good samThe world’s largest organization of recreational vehicle (RV) owners, the Good Sam Club is committed to making RVing a safer and more rewarding experience for its 1.5 million members. Founded in 1966 by Trail-R-News, a small California RV magazine, Club members originally promised to help fellow travelers on America’s highways.

Today, Good Sam’s halo and broad smile continue to signify friendliness among RVers and an eagerness to serve, although on a much larger scale. Nearly 1,500 grassroots Good Sam Club Chapters from Anchorage, Alaska, to Okeechobee, Florida, get together for RV campouts, good times and community service. The Club’s state and provincial organizations host RV gatherings called Samborees that likewise promote RV fellowship and philanthropy, only on a larger scale. Hundreds of worthy causes benefit from the fundraising and volunteer efforts of Good Sam members, from Clean-up Days, Adopt-a-Park and Adopt-a-Highway to Dogs for the Deaf.

Family Motor Coach Association…

Motorhome owners can now enjoy various new discounts offered by Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA). The “connections” benefits, as these discounts are known as, allow motorhome owners to save on RV tires, campground stays, cell phone service plans and RV caravan tours.Tire Connection: FMCA understands that motorhome owners would need to purchase new tires for their recreational vehicles at some point. To ease such financial ramifications, Family Motor Coach Association offers a discount to all its members called tire connection. To provide this discount, FMCA has signed the Michelin Advantage Program. Through this program, FMCA allows its members to receive a substantial discount on the retail price of Michelin tires bought from any Michelin tire dealers. However, the members need to pay with a MasterCard, VISA, or American Express credit card. The corporate office of Michelin charges the credit card that discounted price. And FMCA will email the invoice to the members giving the details of the Advantage Program discount.Campground Connection: As the name suggests, “Campground Connection” program enables motorhome owners to save on the campground fees. In addition, the program helps the participating campgrounds to get additional source of revenue. This program is a part of the commercial member campgrounds of FMCA, which offers FMCA members a discount of minimum 10 percent on their campground fees. The FMCA campgrounds are also authorized to sell FMCA membership to customers on the spot. To locate RV campgrounds, FMCA members can search the map at FMCA.com/campgrounds. They can avail information such as link to the campground’s website, amount of discount offered, list of services and amenities, and contact details.Jerry Yeatts, the director of member services at FMCA said, “We see our new Campground Connection program as benefiting FMCA members in many ways. Who doesn’t like a discount? Plus, being able to identify FMCA campgrounds easily and quickly on FMCA.com will help our motorhoming families to confidently plan their travels. And, of course, the potential for campground owners to connect with an enthusiastic group of motorhome travelers — all for a nominal investment — makes the program appealing for them as well.”Tour Connection: This discount program, powered by the Fantasy RV Tours, allows FMCA members to embark on the member-only RV caravans and rallies organized by FMCA at discounted rates. In addition, motorhome owners can receive a discount on other Fantasy RV Tours events. Fantasy RV Tours is also planning various member-only tours to different popular destinations. Thus, you can just enjoy the tour with fellow RVers, while the experts of Fantasy do the planning and deal with the various aspects of the outing. The seven-day rally for motorhome owners, which will start in April 2012 in Washington, D.C., will be the first of such member-only tours.Phone Connection: FMCA members can now avail phone service at special rates offered by American Telecom Network or ATN. Members can select suitable packages and phones. In addition, they can enjoy other facilities like no long-term contracts, no hidden taxes and fees, no credit checks, and no roaming charges.
